Mercedes-Benz Bosch ECUs (EDC17CP57, CP60, C43, C57, C66, ME17.7, MED17.7.1): bench and BSL connections

⚠ WarningThe EDC17C57 TC1793 is shared with Hyundai and Kia, and the EDC17C42 TC1767 with Renault, Dacia, Nissan and Opel: knowing the car is a Mercedes is not enough, you always have to start from the designation printed on the ECU label.

Procedure

  1. Read the Bosch label on the ECU and find the entry in the manual: EDC17CP57 TC1793, EDC17CP60 TC1793, EDC17C43 TC1797, EDC17C57 TC1793 (shared with Hyundai and Kia), EDC17C66 TC1793, ME17.7 TC1796, MED17.7.1 TC1797.
  2. Check the Tricore microcontroller on the board and compare it with the one named in the entry heading.
  3. For the EDC17CP57 and CP60 use the bench connection diagram given on their respective pages.
  4. For the MED17.7.1 TC1797 use the "BSL connection" diagram given in the same section if you need to work in boot mode.
  5. Build the loom following the pins and colours in the drawing and re-check it with the ECU unpowered.
  6. Power the ECU on the bench, connect the AVDI and start the read from the software.
  7. Save the original file you read out and keep it before performing any write.
