The ZN057 is the wire extension for the ZN031 ABPROG EEPROM/BCM adapter: it lets you read memories directly on the board without desoldering the chip. The typical job is reading the EEPROM in BMW F-Series FEM and BDC modules.

⚠ WarningThe FEM/BDC module has to be powered and connected as shown in the manual photos: check every wire before applying voltage, one wrong contact on the FEM/BDC board can damage it.
Procedure
Remove the FEM or BDC module from the vehicle and open it up until the board with the memory to be read is exposed.
Connect the ZN057 extension to the ZN031 ABPROG EEPROM/BCM adapter.
Hook the ZN057 wires to the points on the FEM/BDC board following the connection photos on page 37 of the manual.
Connect the ZN031 to the DB-25 on the ZN045 and the ZN045 to the DB-15 on the AVDI.
Start "ABProg" > "Classic" and select "EEPROM" with the memory type fitted to the board.
Run the read and check the dump looks sound: if the read is unstable, go back over how securely the contacts are sitting on the board.
Save the dump you read to the PC before doing anything else.
Detach the wires carefully and close the module back up.
