⚠ WarningThe EDC17C45 TC1767 (Renault, Nissan) is listed in the manual as "BSL only": it must be worked exclusively in boot mode, not with the traditional bench connection. The EDC17C84 TC1782 also exists in "Old" and "new" versions: check which one you have in front of you before wiring.
Procedure
Read the label and find the entry: EDC17C42 TC1767 (Renault, Dacia, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Opel, Renault trucks), EDC17C45 TC1767 BSL only (Renault, Nissan), EDC17C84 TC1782 Old and new (Dacia, FIAT, Nissan, Opel, Renault), ME17.9.20 TC1782 (Dacia, Renault, Smart).
If you have an EDC17C45, set the job up for boot mode straight away: the manual gives no other route for this ECU.
For the EDC17C42 use the base diagram and, for boot mode, the "BSL connection" given on the same page.
For the EDC17C84 compare the board against the Old version and new version drawings and pick the matching one.
Build the loom following the pins and colours in the drawing, then re-check every wire with the ECU unpowered.
Power the ECU on the bench, connect the AVDI and start the read from the software.
Save the file you read out as the original and keep it before any write.
