Abrites CAN Gateway ZN081: what it is for and how it fits into the AVDI bench setup

The ZN081 CAN Gateway is the Abrites device that synchronises CAN communication between modules running at different CAN speeds, so they can all be connected together on the bench without the vehicle. Its first release is dedicated to Mercedes-Benz trucks and their immobiliser system: use it when you have to work off the vehicle on EZS/EIS, MCM and TCU.

Procedure

1. Check that you have the complete ZN181 set: ZN081 CAN Gateway device, CB601 cable (connection to the AVDI), CB602 cable (TRUCK EZS/EIS), DC Jack adapter F 5.5x2.1 to M 5.5x2.5 and the 5A fuse.
2. Add the items not included in the base set if you need to cover all the modules: CB603 cable for the MCMs, CB604 cable for the TCU/TCM and the ZN084 24V/4A power supply for the modules that need 24V. ZN181 set + ZN084 + CB603 + CB604 = the device's full capability as it currently stands.
3. Identify the connectors on the ZN081: "A" is the input to the AVDI (CB601 cable), "B" is dedicated to the EZS/EIS (CB602 cable), "C" and "D" are the connectors for the MCM (CB603) and TCU (CB604) modules.
4. Prepare the power supply: the 5A fuse holder on the device and the DC socket for the 24V power supply. The ZN084 is compatible with both the ZN081 CAN Gateway and the ZN051 DS-BOX when 24V is needed.
5. Install and open the Abrites Diagnostics for Mercedes Trucks software on the PC connected to the AVDI: that is the software the gateway works with, there is no separate ZN081 application.
6. Keep the purpose of the product in mind: making the Mercedes truck immobiliser procedures possible on the bench (module replacement, coding read/write, virginising, personalisation, activation, key programming).
