Renault: reading/writing configuration data, flash and IMMO erase on the supported engine ECUs

A working overview of the function that reads and updates configuration data, flash and IMMO data on Renault engine ECUs. Use it when replacing or repairing an ECU and the configuration has to be transferred or the immobiliser code removed. All these ECUs can be worked on the bench with the OBDII to DB9 Male adapter.

Procedure

1. Establish which ECU you have in front of you. EEPROM reading and updating are supported on: EDC15C3, EDC15C13, EDC17, SIRIUS32, SID301, SIM32, SAFIR/SAFIR2/SAFIR200, IAW 6R.20 and IAW 6R.30 (the latter read-only).
2. FLASH reading and updating are supported on: EDC15C3, EDC15C13, EDC17, SIRIUS32, SID301 and SIM32.
3. IMMO code data erase is available on: EDC15C3, EDC15C13, EDC17, SIRIUS32, SID301, SIM32 and IAW 6R.30.
4. To work on the bench use the OBDII to DB9 Male adapter shown in the manual and make up the harness to the ECU following the DB9 Female pinout specific to that ECU model.
5. Connect the AVDI, power the ECU up and open the configuration data / flash / IMMO data read-update function in the software.
6. ALWAYS read and SAVE the original configuration and flash to file before making any changes: they are your only way back.
7. Carry out the operation required (configuration data update, flash write or IMMO erase) with the relevant buttons.
8. After the IMMO erase refit the ECU, run the first ignition cycle with a valid immobiliser signal present and check that it starts.
