Renault X95 (Megane III, Scenic III, Fluence): learning virgin cards and already-working cards

On X95-based cars (Megane III, Scenic III, Fluence and similar) the key-removal step of the common procedure changes depending on whether the card being learned is virgin or already coded. This guide spells out exactly where the card has to be in each case, so the learning does not fail.

Procedure

1. Run the common key learning procedure ("Special functions" > key function > "Start" > "Learn") and apply the X95 rule at the point where you are asked to remove the key/card.
2. General X95 rule: if you are learning a virgin card, the card goes into the ignition barrel WITHOUT ignition ON; if you are learning already pre-coded or working cards, there must be no card in the barrel at all.
3. Example with a virgin card to add: the car has two working cards and you want to add a virgin one. Set the count to 3 cards, put the virgin card in the barrel, then when the software asks for the first key/card do nothing.
4. When the software asks for the second and third key/card, put the working original cards into the barrel, one at a time, following the prompts.
5. Example with working cards only (for example the car has three cards, one is lost and you want only the other two to stay live): at this step there must be no card in the barrel.
6. Renault Fluence with a virgin key: put the virgin key in the barrel without ignition on and run the procedure (this is the original procedure).
7. If during the Fluence procedure the message "PIN code not accepted! Make sure ignition is OFF!" appears, run the procedure again from the start with the SAME virgin key, but this time keeping the key OUT of the barrel: this is the exception allowed for on this model.
8. When finished confirm the save and test every key/card that has to remain operational.
