Renault/Dacia: cluster mileage calibration and disabling the ABS synchronisation

Renault/Dacia Interface Classic Odometer Advanced ⏱ 30-60 min 10 steps

A function to bring the mileage into line across every module that holds it, typically after replacing the instrument cluster or a failed module. On models that use synchronisation with the ABS, disabling that synchronisation is also available, along with reading and writing the cluster EEPROM and flash to sort out any problems.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • cavo OBDII
⚠ WarningBefore running the synchronisation disable procedure the software automatically saves the cluster's original file into the log folder: do not delete it. That file is what lets you re-enable the synchronisation by reflashing the cluster with the original if anything goes wrong.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the vehicle with a stable supply and launch the Renault/Dacia software.
  2. Go into "Special functions" and open the cluster calibration function.
  3. Read the current mileage first: the km has to be read from the module before you can decide what value to set.
  4. If the model uses cluster-to-ABS synchronisation and calibration is not otherwise possible, use the option to disable the synchronisation: that is the typical case when replacing a component that holds the mileage.
  5. Check that the cluster's original file has been saved in the log folder, generated automatically before the synchronisation was disabled.
  6. Set the car's real mileage: the function allows both increasing and decreasing the value.
  7. Confirm the write and check that the value shows correctly on the cluster and in the other modules that hold the km.
  8. If you need to work on the cluster's configuration data, use the functions to read, update, save to file and load the cluster Conf Data over OBD.
  9. To re-enable the cluster-ABS synchronisation, reflash the cluster with its original file saved in the log folder.
  10. If anything goes wrong during calibration, use the EEPROM and flash read/write functions provided by the same special function to put the car back right.
