The standard procedure for reading the immobiliser PIN and learning keys or cards on Renault and Dacia. Use it to add a key, to redo all keys after a loss, or to recode the existing keys. It is the baseline for every model, except for the exceptions covered in the model-specific guides.

⚠ WarningWhen the software asks you to take the key/card out of the barrel, make sure it really is out: if the key stays in, the immobiliser will reject the learning procedure. The PCF7936 transponder can only be used on cars with a key, not on card cars, and a key made this way will have no remote.
Procedure
Connect the AVDI to the vehicle and launch "Abrites Diagnostics for Renault/Dacia".
On the main screen go into the "Special functions" menu. Note that not all special functions are included in the base software: some have to be purchased separately before you can use them.
Open the key learning function. The software has automatic model detection; if auto-detection does not see the learning through, pick the model by hand from the drop-down list of supported models.
Press "Start": the application connects to the immobiliser and reads/displays the keys or cards the car currently accepts. In most cases you do not need ignition on; on some cars the immobiliser wakes up straight from diagnostics, on others ignition may come on as the connection is made.
To learn, press "Learn" and enter how many keys/cards you want stored. Careful: every key that has to keep working must be counted in and presented during the procedure.
When the software asks, take the key/card out of the barrel and double-check it really is out.
When prompted, insert the first key/card and turn the ignition ON. Each key needs a few seconds for the immobiliser to recognise it: don't rush it.
Repeat the insertion for every key to be learned, following the on-screen prompts.
At the end the software asks whether you want to store the result or abort the whole procedure: abort if something went wrong (for example you forgot to present a key), otherwise confirm the save.
If you have no original key for the model, you can make one with a PCF7936 transponder: connect the programmer, insert a factory-virgin transponder and press "Prepare PCF7936 transponder", then learn it with the procedure above.
On Clio III Direct, Modus Direct and Trafic III Direct, learning is done by writing directly to EEPROM: in these cases the key goes into the programmer, not into the ignition barrel, respecting the orientation shown in the manual's images.
