Bosch EDC15C3 and EDC15C13 Renault: DB9 Female pinout for bench work

Renault/Dacia Interface Classic Hardware / Connections Advanced ⏱ 30-60 min 8 steps

Technical data and connections for bench work on Bosch EDC15C3 and EDC15C13 Renault ECUs: reading/writing the configuration data and the full flash, and erasing the IMMO code.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • adattatore OBDII a DB9 Male
  • connettore DB9 Female
  • cablaggio banco
⚠ WarningThe EDC15C13 case looks very much like an EDC16: check the BOSCH number to be 100% sure which ECU you have in your hand before connecting and writing. After the IMMO erase the ECU self-learns on the first ignition cycle, but a valid signal from the immobiliser is still needed for it to start.

Procedure

  1. Identify the ECU. EDC15C3: SAK-C167CS-LM MCU, external AM29F400BT flash of 512 KB, configuration data in a 1 KB 95P08 EEPROM. EDC15C13: SAK-C167CS-LM MCU, external AM29F400BT flash of 512 KB, configuration data in a 1 KB 5P08 or 35P08 EEPROM.
  2. Prepare the OBDII to DB9 Male adapter towards the AVDI and a DB9 Female connector for the harness to the ECU.
  3. EDC15C3 wiring (DB9 Female pin - ECU connector - ECU pin): 1-B-M4, 2-B-E3, 3-A-C3, 4-B-M3, 5-B-D4, 6-A-D3.
  4. EDC15C13 wiring (DB9 Female pin - ECU connector - ECU pin): 1-B-M4, 2-B-A1, 3-C-F2, 4-B-M3, 5-B-F1.
  5. Connect the harness to the ECU on the bench and power it correctly before launching any read.
  6. In the software open the ECU configuration data/flash function and read the configuration data and the full flash with the relevant buttons, saving both to file as a backup.
  7. Write the configuration data or the flash, or erase the IMMO code, depending on the job.
  8. Refit the ECU to the car, run the first ignition cycle with a valid immobiliser signal present and check that it starts.
