Reading live parameters and running actuator tests on PSA control units

This lets you follow live values from any control unit on the vehicle and drive the actuators directly, so you can work out where a fault comes from without stripping anything down. It is the next step after reading the DTCs when the fault code alone is not enough to pin down the cause.

Procedure

1. Connect the AVDI and feed the car from an external power supply; launch the PSA Online software and complete identification and module scanning.
2. From the module list, enter the control unit you want to analyse.
3. For parameters: open the live values section and select the parameters available for that control unit.
4. Choose the display mode that suits the check you are doing: value list (query) or graph, to see how a signal behaves over time.
5. Compare the suspect parameter under different conditions (ignition on, engine running, load applied) to isolate the drift or the out-of-range value.
6. For actuators: still inside the module, select "Actuators": the list of actuators that can be driven on that control unit appears.
7. Select the actuator and run the activation, physically checking the component's response on the car (click, noise, voltage, movement).
8. If the component does not respond to the command, the fault is downstream of the control unit (wiring or actuator); if it does respond, move the search upstream to switches, sensors or control logic.
9. When finished, go back to the DTC screen and use "Clear faults" to erase any faults generated by the tests.
