Cluster Calibration: reading and correcting mileage over OBD-II (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep)

The "Cluster Calibration" Special Function lets you read and rewrite the instrument cluster's mileage directly over OBD-II on supported Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models. It is typically used after replacing the cluster or the control unit that holds the mileage data.

Procedure

1. Connect the AVDI to the OBD-II socket and switch the ignition ON. On some older models (e.g. 300M, PT Cruiser 2002-2006, Neon 1998-2005, RAM 2001-2006, Voyager up to 2007, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee 2002-2004) the J1850 adapter is required.
2. From the main screen open the Special Functions menu and double-click "Cluster Calibration".
3. In the list of supported models, sorted by make, find the vehicle you are working on.
4. Select the model and press the green "OK" button to continue.
5. Read the pop-up message in which the software warns you about the risks of the procedure and only confirm if you are sure of the model you picked.
6. On the recalibration screen press "Get Mileage" to read the currently stored mileage and make a note of it.
7. Enter the new mileage value in the corresponding field.
8. Press "Set Mileage" to store the new value in the unit.
9. Read it back with "Get Mileage" to confirm the written value is the one you wanted, then switch the ignition off, disconnect and check the reading again with the ignition back on.
