MODI technical specifications: 11-25V operating voltage, IP44, temperatures and app requirements

Technical data for the MODI device, to check before using it on 24V vehicles, in cold/hot or damp environments, plus the minimum phone requirements. It tells you where the device can work and where it cannot.

Procedure

1. Check the vehicle's supply voltage before plugging in: MODI works at a nominal 12/24V DC and accepts a range of 11V - 25V DC. On 24V systems it is within spec; on out-of-range systems it is not.
2. Check the environmental conditions: IP44 protection rating, operating temperature range -10 C to +30 C. Outside that range reliability is not guaranteed.
3. Size and weight, for judging the space around the OBDII port: 40x75x20 mm, 120 g.
4. Product identification: name MODI, model ESP32 v04, manufactured by Abrites Ltd., Sofia, Bulgaria.
5. Radio section: ESP32-WROOM-1-S3 wireless module, FCC ID 2AC7Z-ESPS3WROOM1, compliant with Part 15 of the FCC rules. The module is unmodified from its certified state.
6. Observe the RF exposure distance: the transmitter's antenna must keep at least 20 cm separation from people, and must not be co-located or operated together with any other antenna or transmitter.
7. Check the mobile device requirements: iOS 15.6 or later, or Android 5.0 or later, plus a stable internet connection.
8. Vehicle compatibility: the full list of supported makes and functions is at modiobd.com/brands.
9. Use and storage: keep the device clean and dry, do not handle it with wet hands, do not apply mechanical pressure, do not bend it or place it under heavy objects. Use only original accessories supplied by MODI Abrites: non-original peripherals can cause functional damage.
10. Disposal: this is an electronic product and must not go into household waste. Follow local rules for electronic waste or recycling.
