Mileage correction on VAG MQB Visteon/JCI clusters with RH850 (VN023 licence)

With the ZN085 and the VN023 licence you can change the mileage in Visteon and JCI clusters fitted with an RH850 processor, on VAG MQB platform vehicles (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda and other models on the same platform). Part of the job is done on the bench, the final calibration is done in the car over OBDII.

Procedure

1. Check that you have the VN023 licence and confirm the cluster is supported with "Check by Part Number".
2. Remove the cluster from the vehicle and connect the ZN085 to the software's "Wiring" diagram (CB501 cable soldered to the PCB, capacitors desoldered where required).
3. Read the unit with "Read MCU": note that on these units, once the read is done, you won't see the immo data you get on other units.
4. Save the file from the read.
5. Write to the unit ("Write") with the programmer still connected.
6. Once the write is complete unplug the programmer, resolder the capacitors, fully reassemble the cluster and install it in the car.
7. With the cluster installed, connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket, open the RH850/V850 programmer software and select the cluster type.
8. Load the file you saved earlier.
9. Click the "Mileage Calibration" button: a pop-up window opens allowing you to read ("read") and write ("write") the mileage.
10. Write the new mileage value; when the software shows the power-off message, unplug the cluster connector and plug it back in, then check that the new value stays on the display.
