⚠ WarningThe EDC17C74 TC1793 exists in two versions with different connections (Version 1 and Version 2): identify the board before you solder, because the wrong version's diagram will not bring the ECU into communication.
Procedure
Identify the designation from the label: EDC17C46 TC1767, EDC17C54 TC1797, EDC17C64 TC1797, EDC17C74 TC1793, or EDC17CP74 TC1793, all fitted to Audi, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen.
Open the matching manual page and check whether a "BSL connection" section also appears under the entry: for EDC17C46 and EDC17C64 the manual gives the boot mode diagram as well as the base one.
For the EDC17C74, compare the board against the Version 1 and Version 2 drawings and pick the diagram matching the layout in front of you.
Build the loom following the chosen drawing, respecting the pin numbering and the wire colours shown.
If you are working in boot mode, add the BSL connection shown on the page before powering the ECU.
Power the ECU on the bench, connect the AVDI and start the read from the software.
Save the original file you read out and keep it before performing any write on the ECU.
