Bench reading of VAG DSG transmissions: DQ200, DQ250, DQ381 and DQ500 pinouts with the DS Box and CB403

Strumenti Interface Classic Hardware / Connections Medium ⏱ 30-60 min 6 steps

Bench connection diagrams for reading the VAG group DQ200, DQ250, DQ381 and DQ500 transmission control units with the ECU Programming Tool.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • ZN151 DS Box
  • CB403
  • alimentatore 12V
⚠ WarningFor these TCUs the DS Box and the CB403 cable are mandatory: they are not interchangeable with other cables, the manual lists them as mandatory.

Procedure

  1. Prepare the mandatory set: DS Box (ZN151) plus CB403 cable connected to the AVDI. Without those two items there is no bench read route for the DQ units.
  2. Identify the transmission model from the unit's label: DQ200, DQ250, DQ381 or DQ500. Each model has its own dedicated pinout diagram in the manual.
  3. Remove the mechatronic/control unit and set it on a clean surface with the connector accessible.
  4. Clip the CB403 probes onto the pins shown in the diagram for your model, starting with ground and power and finishing with the data lines.
  5. Check the wiring with the bench unpowered, then apply power and start the ECU Programming Tool.
  6. Do a full read and save the file straight away: that is the backup you fall back on if anything goes wrong during writing.
