Renault EDC17: boot mode reading of flash and configuration data

Renault/Dacia Interface Classic Flashing / Programming Advanced ⏱ 60-90 min 7 steps

EDC17 ECUs can be read in boot mode: you pull the flash and the configuration data, which can be saved to file and reused later, including being transferred and updated onto other ECUs. This is the route to take when working through diagnostics is not enough.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • cablaggio boot mode EDC17

Procedure

  1. Set up the boot mode connection to the EDC17: the pinout connections are the same as those used in Abrites Diagnostics for VAG for EDC17 units.
  2. Remove the ECU or get to the boot points as per the wiring, power the ECU on the bench and connect the AVDI.
  3. Open the EDC17 boot mode reading function in the software.
  4. Read the ECU's flash and configuration data.
  5. Save both to file: they are the basis for any further work and your backup.
  6. If you need to transfer the data to another ECU, use the saved files to update the target ECU.
  7. When done refit the ECU to the car and check operation with diagnostics.
