Renault: connecting ECUs on the bench with the ZN051 Distribution Box

Renault/Dacia Interface Classic Hardware / Connections Advanced ⏱ varies 7 steps

The ZN051 Distribution Box lets you connect Renault ECUs on the bench without having to refit them to the car. The manual gives the connection diagrams for the brand's most common ECUs.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • ZN051 Distribution Box
  • cablaggio banco

Procedure

  1. Set up the bench: AVDI connected to the PC, ZN051 Distribution Box and a stable supply for the ECU.
  2. Identify exactly which ECU you have to connect. The ZN051 connection diagrams in the manual cover: SAGEM SFR200, SIEMENS SIM32, SIEMENS SIRIUS35, SIEMENS EMS3132, SIEMENS SIRIUS32N, SIEMENS SIRIUS34 EMS3134, BOSCH EDC15C3, BOSCH EDC15 C13, MM IAW 6R.20/6R.30 and SIEMENS SID301.
  3. Wire the ECU to the ZN051 following the diagram for your ECU in the manual pages, getting supply, ground and communication lines right.
  4. Before powering up, double-check positive and ground: reversing them on the bench can kill the ECU.
  5. Power up the bench and connect the AVDI to the ZN051.
  6. Launch the Renault/Dacia software and check communication with the ECU before launching any read or write.
  7. Carry out the operation you need (configuration data read, flash, IMMO erase), always saving the original files first.
