EM002 ESL/steering lock emulator for Renault/Nissan: 6-pin and 8-pin connection diagrams

Nissan/Infiniti Interface Classic Hardware / Connections Advanced ⏱ 30-60 min 8 steps

The Abrites EM002 emulator replaces the electric steering lock (ESL) on Renault and Nissan vehicles and supports all types: old type 6-pin ESL (Renault), new type 6-pin ESL (Renault) and 8-pin ESL (Nissan). Use it when the original ESL is faulty or has to be emulated.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • EM002
  • resistenza da 100 Ohm
⚠ WarningThe white wire of the emulator is only used to update the emulator itself: no updates are currently available, so it must not be used for the connection in the car.

Procedure

  1. Identify the type of ESL fitted: Renault old type 6-pin, Renault new type 6-pin or Nissan 8-pin. The connection changes according to the type.
  2. Old type ESL (Renault, 6-pin): pin 1 BLACK wire (ground, -), pin 2 RED wire (positive, +), pin 3 GREEN wire (CAN H), pins 4 and 5 NOT USED, pin 6 BLUE wire (CAN L).
  3. New type ESL (Renault, 6-pin): pin 1 BLACK wire (-), pin 2 RED wire (+), pin 3 GREEN wire (CAN H), pin 6 BLUE wire (CAN L). Pin 5 is not used.
  4. Still on the Renault new type ESL: connect pin 4 of the ESL to pin 2 of the ESL through a 100 Ohm resistor.
  5. Nissan 8-pin ESL: pin 1 BLACK wire (-), pin 2 RED wire (+), pin 3 GREEN wire (CAN H), pin 8 BLUE wire (CAN L). Pins 4, 5 and 7 are not used.
  6. Still on the Nissan 8-pin ESL: connect pin 6 of the ESL to pin 2 of the ESL through a 100 Ohm resistor.
  7. Do not connect the white wire: it is reserved for emulator updates and there are currently no updates available.
  8. Check that the wire colours match the pins before applying power, then check in the car that starting and steering lock operation work correctly.
