Car Sync: VIN and proxi alignment for module replacement (Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia)

Car Sync synchronises the chassis number (VIN) across all the vehicle's control units, so a replacement module can be adapted quickly. It is the route to use for modules not tied to the immobiliser: ABS, electric power steering, climate control, Distronic and others.

Procedure

1. Fit the new or used module to be adapted to the vehicle (ABS, electric power steering, air conditioning, Distronic or any other non-immobiliser module).
2. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and the vehicle to an external power supply; start FCA Online with an active Internet connection and let the recognition and scan finish.
3. Check that the model is covered: Alfa Romeo Giulia, Stelvio, Giulietta; Jeep Renegade, Compass; Fiat 500, 500L, 500X, Panda 319 MK4 (3rd generation), Doblo 263 (2nd generation), Fiorino/Qubo 255 (3rd generation), Ducato 250 (3rd generation).
4. From the main diagnostics screen press the "Car Sync" button in the left-hand column.
5. Select "Car Sync" and confirm with "OK" to start the procedure.
6. Wait for the software to collect and display all the VINs read from the vehicle's control units.
7. Select the correct VIN, i.e. the one that must be written into all the modules (normally the car's original VIN, not the donor module's).
8. Let the software run: it changes/synchronises the VIN across all control units and then automatically performs the proxi alignment FCA vehicles require after a VIN change.
9. When the procedure is finished, run the scan again, clear the DTCs generated during the job and check that the adapted module works.
10. If the job also involves physically adding or removing modules, switch to Abrites Diagnostics for FCA (Offline) with the FN021 licence to change the vehicle's CAN configuration (proxi).
