Volvo Service Functions: service history and actuator tests

Volvo Interface Classic Service Medium ⏱ 15-30 min 8 steps

The "Service Functions" special function lets you edit the vehicle's service history after a service or during a test, and gives access to real-time actuator testing. The functions available differ from model to model.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI

Procedure

  1. Plug the AVDI into the vehicle's OBDII socket and turn the ignition ON.
  2. Start Abrites Diagnostics for Volvo and open the special functions menu from the main screen.
  3. Select "Service Functions" with a double-click.
  4. When the software asks, choose the model of the vehicle you are working on: the list of available functions depends on the model selected.
  5. Scroll through the functions offered for that model and pick the one you need (editing the service history after the job, or testing an actuator).
  6. Start the function and do whatever the software prompts ask for.
  7. For actuator tests keep an eye on the component being driven: physically confirm that it responds (noise, movement, current draw) before declaring it good.
  8. When finished, run another DTC scan and clear any codes stored during the tests.
