⚠ WarningThe procedure is time-critical: you have 30 seconds for each requested action, such as holding the key against the start button. The ignition must NOT be switched on: the key is only held near the start button.
Procedure
With the AVDI connected to the OBDII socket, start "Abrites Diagnostics for Subaru" and open the "Smart Access System" special function.
First check "Registered key count": the smart system accepts a maximum of 8 keys. If the limit has been reached, run "Erase all keys" with the working key.
Select "Key Registration" and confirm with "yes" when the software asks whether to start the procedure.
When prompted, hold the already working key against the vehicle's start button, without switching the ignition on, within the 30 seconds given.
Once the registered key is confirmed as recognised, hold the first new key to be programmed against the start button: after a few seconds the on-screen count goes from 1 to 2.
Repeat the step for each further key to be programmed, or close the procedure if you are done.
Check the new count with "Registered key count".
Run the ECM registration if it does not start automatically, then test unlocking and starting with each key.
