Key Learning internal CAN: All Keys Lost on Subaru from 2023 via OBDII and internal CAN with the CB012 (Alarm OFF, Smart System Reset, Key Registration)

The "Key learning internal CAN" special function programs keys on Subaru vehicles built from 2023 by connecting via OBDII and to the internal CAN-BUS with the CB012 cable. In the dedicated menu you switch the alarm off and establish communication with the vehicle in all keys lost situations where there is no communication from the OBD socket alone.

Procedure

1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and the CB012 cable to the vehicle's internal CAN, then start Abrites Diagnostics for Subaru and identify the vehicle.
2. Open "Smart keys" and go into the "All keys lost" procedure: the screen summarises the three steps (All keys lost via internal CAN, Reset Smart System, Add key).
3. Press "Alarm OFF" to switch the vehicle alarm off, or "Continue" to carry on with programming even with the alarm active.
4. In the smart key menu run "Smart System Reset" and wait for the reset to complete.
5. Press "Key Registration" and program the new key following the on-screen instructions; registration can be done via OBD or via internal CAN.
6. When prompted, switch the ignition ON with each programmed key and let the ECM registration complete.
7. Check unlocking, starting and the keyless functions with the new key; if the steering lock does not sync, use "Steering Lock CM/ID Code Box Registration" and the ESL adaptation procedure.
8. Disconnect the CB012, refit the connectors and clear the DTC generated during the procedure.
