Immobilizer Reset for all keys lost on Subaru with an Immobilizer unit

Subaru Interface New Keys / Immo Advanced ⏱ 30-60 min 8 steps

Procedure for Subaru vehicles with a mechanical key and an Immobilizer unit when there is no working key left: the immobiliser is reset and only then is the new key programmed.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
⚠ WarningThe reset takes around 15 minutes, during which communication must not be interrupted: keep the power supply and the OBDII connection stable and follow the on-screen messages strictly. The procedure applies to Immobilizer units; on vehicles with a BCM you use the "All Keys Lost" function instead.

Procedure

  1. Check the vehicle has a mechanical key and an Immobilizer unit (not a BCM): the choice of procedure depends on this.
  2. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and start "Abrites Diagnostics for Subaru".
  3. From the main screen press "Immobilizer" and select "Immobilizer Reset".
  4. Start the procedure and wait: the reset takes around 15 minutes and progress is shown on screen. Follow every message to the letter without disconnecting anything.
  5. Once the reset is complete, go back to the "Immobilizer" menu and select "Key Registration".
  6. Follow the guided key registration procedure: when prompted, switch the ignition ON with the key you want to program, respecting the 30-second window.
  7. Program any additional keys by repeating the sequence shown on screen.
  8. Run the ECM registration if it does not start automatically, then check the engine starts with every programmed key.
