Using the AVDI with GM Tech2Win and unlocking Security Access from GlobalTIS (Opel)

Tech2Win emulates the original Tech2 on Opel/GM vehicles through the AVDI. As well as configuring the emulation COM port you need a Security Access downloaded from GlobalTIS, without which communication with the vehicle is not authorised.

Procedure

1. Install the Abrites passthru driver on the computer where Tech2Win is installed and connect the AVDI.
2. Start the Tech2Win configuration menu as administrator, select "Modify/View" and click the "Opel" button.
3. Go into "Vehicle Communication Interface" and select the COM port for Tech2-RS232 emulation.
4. Check that the COM port you chose is not in the "The following serial ports are Detected:" list (ports already in use): if it is, pick another one.
5. Save the configuration and run Tech2Win, waiting for the main screen to appear.
6. Start GlobalTIS and click on "Security Access" (Security).
7. In GlobalTIS Security press the "Start Download" button: the Security Access wizard starts.
8. When the wizard's main window appears press "Next" and wait for the activation to complete.
9. Go back into Tech2Win: after a successful Security Access you will see an open padlock on the right-hand side of the status bar, with the number of days of licence validity in brackets.
10. Note: when you restart Tech2Win the security indicator is not shown until there is communication with a vehicle; on the first communication the licence is verified and the padlock appears open or closed.
