The ProTag V2 reads and extracts the data held in the keys and transponders of modern authentication and immobiliser systems. It identifies the key type and, where the manufacturer supports it, retrieves the VIN, vehicle type, colour code, date/time of the last drive, battery voltage, fuel quantity and mileage stored in the key: ideal for appraisals and used-car checks.

⚠ WarningDuring reading the ProTag V2 must stay switched on and the key must not be removed until the operation is finished. The device has auto power-off: if it switches itself off, turn it back on with the button and repeat the procedure from the start.
Procedure
Switch the ProTag V2 on with its button and check at the top of the Key Inspector app that the device shows as connected and with enough battery.
Insert or place the vehicle key in the ProTag V2, making sure it is correctly positioned in the reading slot.
Press the "Read" button in the application to start the reading.
Leave the key in position and the phone close to the device until the operation is finished.
Once the read is successful, the app shows the available key data on the main screen. The parameters displayed depend on the key technology and on manufacturer support: not all fields are available for every key.
To review previous reads, tap the "History" icon in the top bar: you will find the list of keys read with vehicle make and date. From here you can delete individual entries or share the selected records.
Bear in mind that history entries are stored only locally on the phone: if you need documentation for the customer, export or share the record straight after the read.
To switch the ProTag off at the end of the job, press and hold the button for a few seconds (alternatively it switches off by itself after a period of inactivity).
