The "Key Cloner" function lets you make a clone of an existing key: the PROTAG reads and identifies the original key and tells you which virgin transponder is needed to make the copy. Some families are cloned offline, others require an internet connection.

⚠ WarningCloning all types of TIRIS 4D transponders (not just Toyota/Lexus/Scion 4D ID67, ID68, ID70) and cloning HITAG 2 transponders onto TPX3/TPX4 require the PC to be connected to the internet.
Procedure
Check that the key to be cloned is one of the supported types: Megamos 13, Temic 11, Temic 12, Toyota/Lexus/Scion Texas TIRIS 4D, all ID33 types, Megamos 48 FIXED KEY, DST+ (G chip) and Temic 8C; on top of these there is cloning of HITAG 2 transponders onto TPX3/TPX4.
Connect the PROTAG, start the Tag Key Tool and select the "Key Cloner" function from the drop-down menu.
If you have to clone a non-Toyota/Lexus/Scion TIRIS 4D (outside ID67, ID68, ID70), a 4E, a 5E or a HITAG 2 onto TPX3/TPX4, first make sure the PC has an active internet connection: these are online procedures.
Place the original key in the correct slot of the PROTAG, away from metal, and press "Read/Detect".
The PROTAG reads and identifies the key and tells you on screen which transponder type you have to put in the programmer to prepare the clone: get exactly that transponder.
Remove the original key, place the specified virgin transponder in the same PROTAG slot and start programming, following the on-screen instructions for the offline or online path.
Do not move the transponder until the operation is complete; when finished, test the clone on the vehicle (starting and immobiliser recognition).
