Fast Coding with MODI: enabling hidden functions and personalisations from the electronic modules

Strumenti Interface Classic Coding / Adaptations Advanced ⏱ 20-45 min 10 steps

In Advanced mode MODI exposes the vehicle's coding options: the "fast functions" straight on the make's dashboard, and the full coding lists inside the individual modules via the FastCoding button. They are used to enable or disable hidden factory functions and personalisations.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • MODI
  • MODI Mobile Diagnostics App
⚠ WarningThis operation can be dangerous for the vehicle. Keep the phone inside the cabin with stable Bluetooth and internet connection. During the coding session do not switch the phone off, do not leave the application, do not switch the ignition off and do not unplug the MODI from the OBD port: if the procedure is interrupted or cancelled you can damage the electronic modules. Make sure you have a backup of the original settings before changing anything.

Procedure

  1. First of all, check the compatibility of the vehicle and its modules in the Brands section of modiobd.com: the functions listed may not be present on every vehicle, depending on factory configuration and options.
  2. Plug the MODI into the OBDII port, pair it over Bluetooth, select the make and wait for the automatic vehicle identification.
  3. Make sure the phone stays in the vehicle and that Bluetooth and internet connection stay stable for the whole coding session.
  4. Check the dashboard with the model photo: if "Fast Coding Options" exist for that vehicle, you will find them here as one-tap procedures.
  5. If there are no fast coding options on the dashboard for your model, go into "Advanced diagnostics" and connect directly to the electronic module concerned, then check whether a special functions list is present.
  6. Inside the module, if supported, press the "FastCoding" button: the full coding and personalisation lists available for that module open up.
  7. Select the option you want from the list and press it to execute; wait for the procedure to finish without touching the phone, the ignition or the device.
  8. Check on the vehicle that the changed function behaves as expected and re-check the module's DTCs.
  9. If something has gone wrong or the procedure was interrupted, use default coding or the coding history to roll the module back (see the coding restore procedure).
  10. Note: coding requires specific knowledge of what you are changing and can produce unwanted vehicle behaviour. It is carried out at your own risk.
