EP001, EP003 and EP005 licences: what each one covers in the ECU Programming Tool

The ECU Programming Tool is unlocked by licence: before you take a job in, it pays to know which licence covers that ECU or that gearbox, because without the right licence the function simply isn't there.

Procedure

1. EP001 covers reading, writing, updating and checksum correction of DFlash, internal/external PFlash and map files on engine ECUs — on the bench (direct connection), in boot mode and on diagnostics (OBDII), including virtual reading of Flash, Maps and Bootloader.
2. ECUs covered by EP001: Bosch EDC17/MED17, Delphi, Continental/Siemens SIMxx, Kefico.
3. EP003 covers full reading, writing and updating of PFlash, DFlash and maps, plus checksum correction, on MD/MG engine ECUs and on VGS2-FDCT, ZF 8HP and DQ381 transmission units on the bench; these procedures let you swap modules across a wide range of vehicles.
4. Units covered by EP003: MD/MD1 and MG/MG1 ECUs with SPCxxx and TC2xx processors; VGSNAG3 9G-tronic, VGS2-FDCT, ZF 8HP, DQ381 and Getrag 7DCT300 TCUs. It is also the licence required for the CB023 and CB030 cables.
5. EP005 covers procedures on engine ECUs and AdBlue modules for trucks, bikes, boats and industrial machinery (heavy-duty, tractors, agricultural machines) over OBDII diagnostics: reading and programming of Application, Maps and SPI EEPROM on ECUs and AdBlue modules, full PFLASH/DFLASH/SPI EEPROM reading for a complete backup, and checksum alignment on programming.
6. Typical brands covered by EP005: Mercedes-Benz Trucks and Buses, Akia, Artec, Atlas, Bell Equipment, Berthoud, Claas, DAF, Daewoo, Detroit, Deutz, Dong Feng, Doosan, Ducati, Fendt, Ford, Freightliner, Hino, Hurlimann, Hyundai, Iveco, JCB, Kenworth, Kramer, Kubota, Krone, Magni, MAN, Manitou, Maxforce, Mitsubishi, Morelo, New Holland, Peterbilt, Ponsse, Sterling, Storti, Temsa, Tetra, Tigercat, Western Star and others; Bosch, Delphi and Continental/Siemens ECUs.
7. Specific modules handled: Continental MCM, MCM02T, MCM2.1 ECUs (reading/programming of Application, Maps and SPI EEPROM) and ACM, ACM2.0, ACM2.1, ACM2.2 AdBlue modules, both over OBDII and by direct bench connection.
