Bench connection of a Mercedes truck TCU/TCM transmission unit with the ZN081 CAN Gateway and CB604

Strumenti Interface Classic Hardware / Connections Medium ⏱ 15-30 min 7 steps

The wiring to follow to connect a Mercedes truck TCU/TCM transmission control unit to the ZN081 CAN Gateway off the vehicle, so you can work on it with the AVDI and the Mercedes Trucks software.

Required licences

  • MN031

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • ZN081
  • CB601
  • CB604
  • ZN084
⚠ WarningFollow the order given: first the cable on the module and on the gateway, then the 5A fuse, then the 24V power supply and only at the end the AVDI. Use the dedicated 24V supply (ZN084) for the modules that require it.

Procedure

  1. Connect the CB604 cable to the TCU socket.
  2. Connect the other end of the CB604 to the ZN081 CAN Gateway, on connector "C" or "D".
  3. Fit the 5A fuse in the dedicated holder on the CAN Gateway.
  4. Connect the DC jack of the 24V/4A power supply (ZN084) to the gateway's power socket, using the DC Jack adapter F 5.5x2.1 to M 5.5x2.5 from the ZN181 set if necessary.
  5. Connect the AVDI interface to connector "A" of the CAN Gateway with the CB601 cable.
  6. Power up the bench and open the Abrites Diagnostics for Mercedes Trucks software with the MN031 licence to carry out the operations on the TCU (module replacement, coding, virginising, personalisation, activation).
  7. Check vehicle compatibility before you start: the CB604 is declared for Actros, Arocs, Antos, Travego, Tourismo 3rd generation and Setra with IR keys.
