Renault/Dacia: the "Renew" function for Airbag, UCH, EPS and ESL

Renault/Dacia Interface Classic Special Functions Advanced ⏱ 20-40 min 8 steps

The "Renew" special function returns Airbag, UCH, EPS and ESL modules to virgin state. It is typically used after an accident or when fitting a module from another car that has to be made reusable.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • cavo OBDII
⚠ WarningBefore it goes ahead the software shows a warning that has to be confirmed with "Yes": read it and make sure you have selected the correct module, because the operation changes the module's content.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII port with a stable supply and launch the Renault/Dacia software.
  2. In the main "Special functions" list open the "Renew" function.
  3. In the new window pick the type of module to renew from the four options available: Airbag, UCH, EPS and ESL.
  4. When prompted, select the car's exact module from the list offered.
  5. Confirm with "Yes" at the warning that appears before the operation.
  6. Wait for the procedure to finish: the software tells you when the unit has been renewed.
  7. In the case of the UCH bear in mind there are extra options: after renewing, the UCH can be adapted by entering the new VIN and the new PIN (see the dedicated UCH adaptation guide).
  8. When finished read and clear the DTCs and check that the renewed module talks to the car correctly.
