Renault/Dacia multimedia: unlocking the module and aligning the second VIN (UCH MM) with the "Renew" function

Renault/Dacia Interface New Coding / Adaptations Medium ⏱ 10-15 min 7 steps

The "Multimedia" function inside "Renew" shows the three VINs involved: the UCH's own VIN, the one the UCH holds for the multimedia module (UCH MM) and the one written in the module itself (MM ID). Use it when the multimedia is locked, or when, after a UCH or multimedia replacement, the VINs do not match and the module will not start up.

⚠ WarningThe UCH holds TWO separate VINs: the UCH VIN is used by the immobiliser, the UCH MM VIN is only used for syncing with the multimedia. Only the second one is touched here: do not change the immobiliser VIN with this function.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket, start Abrites Diagnostics for Renault/Dacia Online and select the vehicle (e.g. Clio V).
  2. Open the "Renew" special function.
  3. Select "Multimedia" in the left-hand menu: the software reads and displays UCH ID, UCH MM and MM ID.
  4. Compare the three values: if UCH MM and MM ID differ, the multimedia is not synced with the UCH.
  5. To align the UCH MM VIN with the one stored in the multimedia, press "Fix UCH MM ID".
  6. If the multimedia module is already locked, press "Unblock MM" to unlock it.
  7. Switch the ignition OFF and back ON, check the multimedia starts up and clear the DTC generated.
