Reading the PIN from the engine ECU over OBDII when the BSI does not respond

When the key learning procedure does not finish as it should and you cannot read the PIN from the BSI, the software lets you read the PIN directly from the engine ECU over OBDII. It is a slow but effective fallback that needs nothing removed from the car.

Procedure

1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and an external power supply to the battery.
2. Check the Internet connection: the PSA Online software works online and a dropout during the hour-long read will make the procedure fail.
3. Launch the software and select the vehicle; wait for the scan to complete.
4. From the module list select the engine control unit (ECU).
5. Open the module from the diagnostic menu and select the correct ECU type from the menu.
6. Select "Read PIN" in the left-hand menu and follow the on-screen instructions.
7. If you have no working keys, select the "AKL" option when prompted: this is a step not to be skipped.
8. Let the software work: the read can take up to an hour, do not touch the ignition, the cables or the power supply.
9. Once you have the PIN, save it straight away: you will need it for key programming and for any future work.
10. Go back to the Key Learning procedure and enter the PIN manually to program the keys.
