Adding a key on vehicles with VSM (308 III, C5 III, DS4, Astra L): internal CAN connection with CB012

On vehicles with VSM (Peugeot 308 III, Citroën C5 III, DS4, Opel Astra L 2021+ and everything on the same platform), adding a key when a working key is available can be done in seconds with ZN094 and the PN020 licence. Without those licences, the legacy procedure requires a direct connection to the internal CAN using CB012.

Procedure

1. First check whether you can take the fast route: with the PN020 licence active and the ZN094 emulator connected, the PIN is read in seconds using a working key (procedure described in the ZN094 guide / ch. 4.3).
2. If you go the legacy route, prepare the CB012 cable for the direct connection to the internal CAN.
3. Find the most convenient connection point: behind the engine ECU connector (check the ECU pinout in the ECU Programming Tool manual).
4. Connect the red CAN H needle to the purple wire, pin 49 of the ECU connector.
5. Connect the black CAN L needle to the yellow/green wire, pin 33 of the ECU connector.
6. Check the connection and feed the vehicle from an external power supply.
7. Launch PSA Online, select the model and open the Key Learning procedure.
8. Carry on with key learning as normal, following the on-screen instructions.
9. Allow the required learning time (30 minutes for the new key) without disconnecting anything.
10. Remove the needles, make the wiring good again and check that all the keys work by actually starting the vehicle.
