All keys lost on the 911 997 and Boxster/Cayman 987 (PAS 24c08 + ESL 24c04 with ABPROG)

The "All keys lost" procedure for the 911 997 and Boxster/Cayman 987: it lets you learn keys without knowing the teach enable code, transponder password and transponder secret key. Use it when the customer has lost all the keys. It requires opening the PAS module and the ESL module and reading the ConfigData chips with ABPROG.

⚠ WarningAfter running this function all old/existing keys stop working for good. The six steps must be carried out in the given order (1 to 6): you can only restart from an intermediate step if the previous ones have already been completed successfully. For removing the ESL, refer to Appendix 5.2 "Removing ESL Porsche 911 997, Boxster/Cayman 987".

Procedure

  1. Get the equipment ready: AVDI, ABPROG, Tag programmer and a desoldering station. The procedure consists of six steps to be carried out in order 1-6.
  2. Step 1: disconnect the PAS module from the vehicle, open it and desolder the 24c08 ConfigData chip. Connect ABPROG to the AVDI, connect the 24c08 chip to ABPROG and press "Next" to run the step.
  3. Step 2: disconnect the ESL module from the vehicle (see Appendix 5.2 for removal), open it and desolder the 24c04 ConfigData chip. Connect ABPROG to the AVDI, connect the 24c04 chip to ABPROG and press "Next".
  4. Step 3: resolder the 24c08 chip onto the PAS module, close it up and refit it to the vehicle; resolder the 24c04 chip onto the ESL module, close it up and refit it to the vehicle. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and press "Next".
  5. Step 4: make sure step 3 has been carried out, then press "Next" to run the step.
  6. Step 5: connect the Tag programmer to the AVDI, put the new transponder into the Tag programmer and press "Next".
  7. Step 6: connect the AVDI to the vehicle's OBDII socket, press "Next" and follow the on-screen instructions through to the end.
  8. When it's done, test starting and steering lock operation with the new key; remember that no previous key will work any more.
