Hyundai/KIA bench ECU neutralisation without PIN (HK010): connections with and without ZN051

Hyundai/Kia Interface New Hardware / Connections Advanced ⏱ 30-60 min 13 steps

The HK010 function neutralises a Hyundai/KIA ECU on the bench without needing the PIN code (the PIN is only needed for the adaptation). It is the typical solution for a second-hand ECU bought off the Internet, where the PIN of the original car is unknown.

Required licences

  • HK010

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • ZN051 DS Box
  • CB401
  • CB100 (cavo OBD)
  • DB25 male
  • alimentatore esterno 12V
  • key switch
⚠ WarningThe function works on all ECUs EXCEPT those with an integrated immobiliser: if the immobiliser is integrated into the ECU you have to read the PIN code and use standard in-car neutralisation. The manual warns that working on the bench (HK010) does not need the PIN but there are risks for the unit. The software shows warning messages reminding you to check the connections and where to find the connection diagrams: respect them before applying power. HK010 licence required.

Procedure

  1. Check that you have an active HK010 licence and that the ECU you have to work on does NOT have an integrated immobiliser. If it does, stop and use standard in-car neutralisation, reading the PIN code first.
  2. Choose the connection method: with the ZN051 DS Box or a direct connection to the ECU without a DS Box (the software also provides an option for the older DS Box version).
  3. CONNECTION WITH ZN051 DS BOX - yellow wire of the CB401 (B+) to the ECU's B+.
  4. CONNECTION WITH ZN051 DS BOX - orange wire of the CB401 (IGN) to the ECU's IGN.
  5. CONNECTION WITH ZN051 DS BOX - black wire of the CB401 (GND) to the ECU's GND.
  6. CONNECTION WITH ZN051 DS BOX - K7 socket (green wire of the ZN051 kit) to the ECU's K-Line (also called the Data signal cable).
  7. CONNECTION WITHOUT ZN051 - 12V from the external power supply to the ECU's B+ and also to the AVDI: pin 17 of the DB25 (male) or pin 16 of the CB100 OBD cable.
  8. CONNECTION WITHOUT ZN051 - 12V from the external power supply to the ECU's IGN through a key switch: the key switch goes between the 12V supply and the ECU's IGN pin (a key switch, or lock switch, is a key-operated switch used where access to the switch functions has to be restricted).
  9. CONNECTION WITHOUT ZN051 - GND of the external power supply to the ECU's GND and to the AVDI's GND: pin 5 of the DB25 (male) or pin 6 of the CB100 OBD cable.
  10. CONNECTION WITHOUT ZN051 - K-Line of the AVDI (PIN 7) to the ECU's K-Line (Data signal cable).
  11. Double-check all the connections following the software's warning messages and the connection diagrams indicated, then power up the bench.
  12. Launch the bench ECU neutralisation function (HK010) from the software and follow the procedure through to completion.
  13. Fit the neutralised ECU to the target car and carry out the adaptation: at this stage the vehicle's PIN code is required.
