Reading the Hyundai/KIA PIN code: from the car, from a working key or calculated from the VIN

The "Read PIN Code" Special Function obtains the PIN code of the Hyundai/KIA vehicle, which is essential for key programming and for module neutralisation. The software works in wizard mode and guides every step with informative messages.

Procedure

1. Connect the AVDI to the vehicle, start the Hyundai/KIA Online software and complete the vehicle selection (VIN or model, engine where requested, key type).
2. From the main screen go into "Special Functions" and select "Read PIN Code".
3. Press and hold the "START" button: the procedure begins and from here on the wizard guides you with messages telling you what to do.
4. Choose the reading method according to the case in front of you. There are three.
5. Method 1 - "Read PIN code from vehicle": read the PIN directly from the car. This is the option to use when no working key is available for the car.
6. Method 2 - "Read PIN code from working key": requires the PROTAG programmer. Used when you have a working blade key with a DST80 or HITAG2 transponder. The software tells you when to connect the PROTAG and when to insert the key.
7. Method 3 - "Calculate PIN code from VIN": PIN calculation from the VIN. Only valid for vehicles built up to 09/2007.
8. Follow the wizard's on-screen messages all the way through and write down the PIN obtained: you will need it for key programming and for module neutralisation (including on a donor car, whose PIN you must know).
