Mechanical Key Code: working out the key cutting code

The "Mechanical Key Codes" Special Function automatically returns the key cutting code from the vehicle's mechanical code. The result is used directly on key cutting machines to prepare the key blade.

Procedure

1. Get hold of the vehicle's mechanical key code: if you do not have it, it can be requested from the dealer.
2. Open the software, go into the Special Functions menu and double-click "Mechanical Key Codes".
3. Enter the code in the field provided and confirm.
4. Read off the Cutting code returned by the software.
5. Enter the cutting code on the key cutting machine to mill the key blade.
6. Try the cut key in the ignition lock and the door locks before going on to program the transponder.
