Adapting a 6HP EGS gearbox unit on BMW E series (synchronisation with CAS)

Adapts a 6HP EGS transmission control unit on BMW E series cars. On E series the 6HP is synchronised only with the CAS, so the adaptation is done on the car with a guided procedure.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • PROTAG

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the vehicle's OBDII socket and start the BMW/Mini software.
  2. Open the path "Keys and start synchronization" > "ISN codes" > "ISN in EGS".
  3. Start the wizard and follow the on-screen prompts.
  4. When the software asks for it, enter the DME ISN or place a working key from the vehicle in the PROTAG programmer.
  5. Let the wizard run through to the adaptation successful confirmation.
  6. Check that the gearbox works properly and that there are no synchronisation DTC left.
