Security Access: unlocking the full functionality of a Porsche control unit

Porsche Interface New Coding / Adaptations Medium ⏱ 10 min 7 steps

"Security Access" unlocks the full functionality of a control unit: you need it when you have to change coding options or run protected operations that the control unit would otherwise refuse. The software contains a database covering a large number of modules.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and start "Abrites Diagnostics for Porsche Online".
  2. In the diagnostic menu go into the control unit on which you need to run the protected operation (coding, adaptation or other locked function).
  3. Select "Security Access".
  4. Choose the access level or entry matching the control unit from the list: the software takes the correct value from its own security access database.
  5. Run the "Security Access" procedure and wait for the control unit to confirm it is unlocked.
  6. Without leaving the session with that module, go straight on with the operation you needed: "Adaptations", "Long Coding" or another protected function.
  7. If communication is interrupted or you exit the control unit, repeat the "Security Access" before trying the write again.
