Remote control programming for 911 996, GT2 996, GT3 996, Boxster 986 and Carrera GT

The "Teach remote control" function for the 911 996, GT2 996, GT3 996, Boxster 986 and Carrera GT: it learns up to four remote controls into the "Alarm" module, writing the remote ID into one of the four slots. Use it when the customer has lost a remote or is adding a new one.

Procedure

1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and start "Abrites Diagnostics for Porsche".
2. Open the "Special Functions", select "Key learning" and press "Open".
3. Select "Teach remote control - GT2 996, GT3 996, 911 996, Boxster 986, Carrera GT" and press "Open".
4. Press "Start": the software connects to the "Alarm" module and reads the remotes the car currently accepts, in the four slots 1, 2, 3 and 4.
5. When prompted, enter the 3-byte "Key learning code" of the Alarm module, or extract it by loading the alarm configuration data dump.
6. Put the remote/key to be learned into the ignition lock.
7. Click the slot (1 to 4) you want to write the remote into and press "Learn".
8. When the software asks for it, type in the 12-byte transmitter code of the remote, which you'll find printed on the remote itself. The remote is learned.
9. To erase a single remote: first select its slot by clicking on it, then press "Erase".
10. To erase all learned remotes press "Erase all".
11. Press "Stop" to disconnect from the Alarm module and test locking and unlocking with each remote.
