Key programming for 911 997, Boxster 987 and Cayman (2005-2010) - PAS module

Porsche Interface Classic Keys / Immo Medium ⏱ 20-40 min 10 steps

The "Teach keys" function for the 911 997 (2005-2010), Boxster 987 (2005-2010) and Cayman (2005-2010): it lets you learn one to six keys to the vehicle by working on the PAS module. You need to have the PAS codes and the transponder data to hand.

Required licences

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • cavo OBDII
⚠ WarningThree pieces of data are mandatory: the PAS module teach enable code (3 bytes), the transponder password (6 digits / 3 bytes) and the transponder secret key (12 digits / 6 bytes). Without this data, use the "All keys lost" procedure instead. Enter a key count that covers every key that has to stay working.

Procedure

  1. Gather the required data first: the 3-byte teach enable code of the PAS module, the 6-digit (3-byte) transponder password and the 12-digit (6-byte) transponder secret key.
  2. Check the keys to be learned have already been prepared as dealer keys (see "Program dealer key" for the 911 997, Boxster/Cayman 987).
  3. Connect the AVDI to the vehicle's OBDII socket and start "Abrites Diagnostics for Porsche".
  4. Open the "Special Functions", select "Key learning" and press "Open".
  5. Select the model "911 997", "Boxster 987" or "Cayman" and the "Teach keys" function, then press "Next".
  6. In the first window enter the 3-byte teach enable code of the PAS module and press "Next".
  7. In the next window enter the 6-digit (3-byte) transponder password and press "Next".
  8. Enter the number of keys to be learned (1 to 6) and press "Next".
  9. In the last window enter the 12-digit (6-byte) transponder secret key and press "Next": the procedure starts.
  10. Follow the on-screen prompts, putting each key into the ignition lock, then check the car starts with all the learned keys.
