Adapting an electronic steering column lock ELV/ESL - Boxster 987, 911 997, Cayman up to 2010

Lets you teach a new electronic steering column lock module (ELV/ESL) to the car on Boxster 987, 911 997 and Cayman up to 2010. Used after replacing the steering lock.

⚠ WarningYou need the teach enable code of the NEW ELV module: without that code the learning procedure will not start.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII socket and start "Abrites Diagnostics for Porsche".
  2. If the unit still has to be replaced, refer to the manual appendix "Removing ESL Porsche 911 997, Boxster/Cayman 987" for removing the steering lock.
  3. Select the model "Boxster 987, 911 997, Cayman (-2010)" and open the function "Teach electronic steering column lock".
  4. In the first window enter the teach enable code of the new ELV module.
  5. Press "Next": the learning procedure starts.
  6. Wait for it to finish, then check that the steering unlocks and locks correctly with the ignition.
