Security access and module ID change for used control units (Opel/Vauxhall)

When adapting a second-hand module to a vehicle you need the security code of both the car and the module, and the unit's ID then has to be changed so it matches the vehicle. Without this step the module will not work properly.

Procedure

1. Obtain the vehicle security code: you will find it on the Car Pass, from the dealer, or by reading it with the "Read Security Code" function (see the dedicated procedure).
2. Fit the used module to the vehicle and connect the AVDI with the ignition ON.
3. Open the Opel/Vauxhall software, run the scan and double-click the module to be adapted.
4. Go into the security access function and enter the security code requested: you need both the vehicle code and the module-related one in order to replace it.
5. Once authentication is confirmed, open the module ID change function.
6. Set the ID so that it matches the vehicle the unit is installed on and confirm the write.
7. Switch the ignition off and on, run the scan again and check in identification that the module reports the correct data.
8. Clear the DTCs generated during the adaptation and check that they do not come back.
