Starting Abrites Diagnostics for Ford Online: requirements, AVDI connection and vehicle detection

Ford Online is the Abrites software for Ford vehicles that runs off online servers: with no internet connection it does not work. This guide covers preparing the PC, connecting the AVDI and getting the vehicle recognised before any diagnostic or Special Functions work.

Procedure

1. Check that the PC meets the minimum requirements: Windows 10 64 bit or later, at least 1024MB of RAM (4GB recommended) and 64GB of free disk space.
2. Make sure you have a stable internet connection and that port 8443 is allowed by your provider: Ford Online is an online server based application and will not work without that port.
3. Check the unique ID number of your AVDI interface in the "license viewer" installed on the PC and confirm you have an active AMS and the latest software version installed.
4. Connect the AVDI to the vehicle's OBDII socket and to the PC. If the AVDI software is not installed yet, refer first to the "AVDI Common User's Manual".
5. Open the Abrites Quick Start and select "Abrites diagnostics for Ford".
6. Look at the icons in the top right corner of the software screen: they show internet connectivity and signal strength. The Gear icon lets you choose the language the software runs in.
7. After clicking the Abrites diagnostics for Ford Online icon, wait for it to start: the software automatically begins detecting the vehicle the AVDI is connected to.
8. If the vehicle is not detected automatically, select the vehicle model manually from the list offered and carry on.
