PATS Key Learning: adding keys on Ford/Mazda (including with the alarm triggered)
Ford/MazdaInterface ClassicKeys / ImmoMedium⏱ 20-60 min (up to 16+ min of waiting if the alarm is triggered)11 steps
Procedure for adding keys to the PATS system memory: keys already known to the PATS are NOT erased. It includes the timing sequence you have to follow when the vehicle alarm triggers and blocks programming.

⚠ WarningThis procedure adds keys without erasing the existing ones: if your aim is to lock out lost keys, you need "PATS Erase All Keys" instead. With the alarm triggered you get a single 1-minute window (between the 15th and 16th minute) to program: let it lapse and the alarm restarts and you have to repeat the whole sequence from scratch.
Procedure
Connect the AVDI, get a solid power supply on the vehicle and start the software; select the correct vehicle context.
If you need to understand the state of the system, first open "PATS Information" from the Special Functions list: it tells you what the PATS has in memory before you touch anything.
Open the "Special Functions" list and select "PATS Key Learning" (double-click or the "Open" button).
Follow the on-screen instructions and program the keys required. Keys already stored in the PATS stay valid.
IF THE ALARM TRIGGERS - step 1: open the car, the alarm sounds and a 15-minute countdown starts.
Step 2: open all the car doors.
Step 3: at the 12th minute of the count the siren stops, but the hazard lights keep flashing.
Step 4: wait for the hazards to stop flashing, another 3 minutes; at this point 9 minutes are left.
Step 5: wait another 9 minutes; as soon as you hear the double "Beep" you have a 1-minute window (between the 15th and 16th minute) to program the new keys. Be ready, with the software already sitting on the programming function.
If the 16 minutes pass and you are not ready, the alarm restarts: repeat the same sequence from the beginning.
At the end of the job try every key: starting, remote and door opening.
