⚠ WarningCrash data must only be cleared after every restraint system component damaged in the impact has been repaired or replaced; the CCC update procedure has to be run if the RCM has been replaced.
Procedure
Connect the AVDI, open the Ford/Mazda diagnostics and select the module you need to work on.
On the Body Control Module (BCM), the "Set Vehicle Power Mode" function lets you set the vehicle power mode: use it when the car has to be put into a given power state to carry out other operations.
On the Restraints Control Module (RCM), run "Clear Restraint Control Module (RCM) Crash Data Memory" to clear the crash data memory in the airbag module.
If the RCM has been replaced, run the "Restraints Control Module (RCM) Module Central Car Configuration (CCC) Update" function to match the vehicle's central configuration to the new module.
To enable or disable the passenger airbag, run the "Passenger Air Bag Deactivation (PAD) Switch Activation" function.
When finished, cycle the ignition off and on and check that the airbag lamp behaves correctly and that no DTCs remain.
