A collection of the service functions available on the Ford/Mazda Powertrain Control Module: resetting learned values after a component is replaced, resetting warning lamps and setting the speed limiter. The PCM learns component characteristics over time; when a new part is fitted, the old learned values can cause poor driveability or set DTCs.

⚠ WarningThe knock sensor learned values reset must only be run after a complete set of new injectors has been fitted, and the engine must not be running. The fuel metering valve learned values reset also requires the engine to be off. The water in fuel (WIF) lamp reset must only be run if water has actually been found in the fuel.
Procedure
Connect the AVDI, enter the Ford/Mazda diagnostics, select the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and open the "Service Functions" menu.
"Reset Keep Alive Memory (KAM)": clears the learned values stored in the PCM, for example idle and fuel trims.
"Reset the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Learned Values": mandatory after fitting a new particulate filter; it clears the learned values of the old component. Learning of the new one may happen straight away or take several drive cycles.
"Reset the Water in Fuel (WIF) Warning Indicator": only run this if water has actually been found in the diesel; the WIF lamp goes out afterwards.
"Reset the Knock Sensor Learned Values": only run this if a complete set of replacement injectors has been fitted, with the engine off.
"Reset the Fuel Metering Valve Learned Values": run this if the high pressure pump has been replaced, with the engine off.
"Reset the Intake Air Throttle Valve Learned Values": run this after fitting the intake air throttle valve.
"Reset the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Learned Values": run this after fitting a new EGR valve.
"Reset the Differential Pressure Sensor Learned Values": returns the differential pressure sensor learned values to their nominal figures.
"Reset the High Pressure Fuel System Learned Values": run this after fitting any new component in the high pressure fuel circuit.
"Fuel Injector Correction Factors": run this after replacing an injector, to enter the correction factors.
"Relearn Vehicle Data": forces an already configured PCM to relearn the new configuration data from the BCM.
"Reset the Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Learned Values": run this after fitting a new air mass meter.
"Reset the Fuel Pressure Relief Valve Open Count Learned Value": zeroes the counters for the total number of rail pressure relief valve openings.
"Reset the Fuel Pressure Relief Valve Open Duration Learned Value": zeroes the counters for the total rail pressure relief valve open time.
"Speed Limiter": sets the vehicle's maximum speed.
