Reading EDC17/MED17 PIN/CS in "direct mode"

The "Read EDC17/MED17 PIN/CS in direct mode" function is used solely to read the PIN and CS of EDC17/MED17 ECUs, including 2012-on units with updated software that cannot be read normally over OBDII. The ECU is not read through the OBDII port: a direct connection to the ECU is required, either on the bench or in the car.

Procedure

1. Decide whether to work on the bench or in the car.
2. On the bench: connect only 12V, GND, ignition, CAN-H and CAN-L to the ECU.
3. In the car: locate the CAN-H (orange-black) and CAN-L (orange-brown) wires and connect them to the AVDI.
4. Make sure you have an active internet connection.
5. Start the "Read EDC17/MED17 PIN/CS in direct mode" special function and wait for the PIN and CS to be read.
