General diagnostics and fault code (DTC) read/clear

VAG Interface New Diagnostics Basic ⏱ 5–10 min 4 steps

The general diagnostics screen scans every module on the vehicle and lets you read identification, live values, coding and adaptations, as well as clear fault codes.

Required licences

  • Licenza VAG di base (inclusa in VN003)

Hardware / cables

  • AVDI
  • Cavo OBDII
⚠ WarningAlways hook up an external power supply to the battery: if the vehicle drops voltage mid-operation you can damage the modules.

Procedure

  1. Connect the AVDI to the OBDII port and switch the ignition ON.
  2. Open Abrites Diagnostics for VAG Online: the vehicle is detected automatically and the module scan starts.
  3. Select the module you need from the list: you get identification, measured (live) values, long coding, adaptations and basic settings.
  4. For faults: open the fault code function, read the DTCs with their details, fix the issue on the vehicle and then clear them.
