MQB: spare key programming with one working key

Lets you add a spare key to MQB cars when at least one working key is available. Supported models: Audi A3/S3 2014+, Audi Q2, Seat LEON 07.2014+, Skoda FABIA/OCTAVIA III 07.2014+, Skoda RAPID 06.2015+, Skoda KODIAQ/SUPERB III, Seat IBIZA/ATECA/TOLEDO 06.2015+, Volkswagen Golf 7/Polo/Tiguan II/Touran II 07.2014+, Volkswagen Crafter 2017+, Volkswagen Passat B8.

⚠ WarningOn Skoda MQB cars the receiver coil sits around the Start button and the button itself causes interference: the coil often does not "see" the new key (sometimes not even the original one). The fix is to remove the plastic or aluminium trim ring around the Start button and pull the start/stop button out without unplugging it, so you can lay the key on the coil and still use the button to complete the programming.

Procedure

  1. Check that at least one working key is present and that the model is on the supported list.
  2. Go into "CAN Instrument".
  3. Select "VDO" on the MQB platform.
  4. Select "Learn Key".
  5. Check that all the preconditions listed by the software are met.
  6. Enter the number of keys you want to program.
  7. Let the module go into bootloader state and wait for the procedure to finish.
  8. Once programming is done the remote is programmed as well.
  9. For keyless go keys: hold the key near the emergency slot, press the "Start" button and immediately start the key programming procedure.
